What are 'Pods'?

Written by The PAH! Team | 4/23/25 1:03 AM
Pods are how Deaf customers build their dream team of interpreters.

On the PAH! app, only Deaf users can create Pods—they’re small groups (up to 8 interpreters) made up of their preferred people to work with. It’s all about creating comfort, familiarity, and trust.

Customers can set up as many Pods as they would like. This means, instead of browsing through the whole list of available interpreters, customers can quickly send a booking to their Pod and know it’ll land in safe hands.

🤔 Examples of Pods Deaf customers might set up:

  • Work Pod – for regular meetings, check-ins, or professional appointments
  • Medical Pod – interpreters with experience in health or mental health settings
  • Family/Friends Pod – for casual catch-ups, weddings, or community events
  • Emergency Pod – trusted interpreters who can take short-notice bookings
  • Regular Duo Pod – if a Deaf customer prefers two interpreters who work well together

💡 How it works for interpreters:

If a customer sends a booking to a Pod:

  • It goes to everyone in the Pod at the same time
  • The first interpreter to accept will get the job
  • All others will see the booking as “Cancelled”—this just means someone else beat you to it!

🎉 How do I know I’m in a Pod?

You won’t be notified directly, but if you start receiving repeat bookings from the same Deaf person, there’s a good chance you’ve been added to one.

(And that’s a big deal—you’re clearly doing something right 🙌)

We recommend watching the Deaf customer walkthrough of Pods to get a better sense of how they’re used on the other side of the app. It’s a great way to understand the customer experience and why pods make booking so much easier for them.
