What is PAH!'s cancellation policy? [interpreters]

by The PAH! Team on

❌ Cancellation Policy

We’re big on fairness—for you, and for the Deaf Community. So here’s how cancellations work at PAH!

If a Deaf person cancels:

  • More than 24 hours before the booking:
    → The customer isn’t charged.
    → The interpreter isn’t paid.

  • Less than 24 hours before the booking:
→ The customer is charged the full cost.
→ The interpreter is paid in full.

Easy.

Co-interpreter jobs are slightly different..

PAH! doesn’t find your co-interpreter for you. That’s part of how we give you total freedom and flexibility as a freelance interpreter.
If you know a job needs a team interpreter, it’s your responsibility to flag this with the customer as early as possible—ideally, weeks / days in advance.

But, if you get to 24 hours before the start time, and there still isn’t a second interpreter confirmed:
  • You’ll receive a notification reminding you that a team hasn’t been filled.
  • You can withdraw from the booking at that point—no penalty.
24 hours before the start of the booking, the customer can choose to either:

❌ Cancel the booking
→ The customer won’t be charged.

OR

✅ Go ahead with one interpreter
→ Only if you agree.
→ Make sure breaks and sustainable working conditions are clearly negotiated.

However, the customer will have to cancel the booking for two interpreters and re-create a NEW booking only requesting the ONE agreed interpreter.

⚠️ Important: If you choose to stay on a solo booking within 24 hours, and the customer then cancels,
→ You will not be paid.
→ We can only pay you for bookings that go ahead.

Recap:

  • You're the boss—you decide if a team is needed.
  • You’ll get a reminder at the 24-hour mark if a co-interpreter isn’t confirmed.
  • No co? You can withdraw without any penalty.
  • But if you choose to stay and the customer cancels within 24hrs → you won’t be paid.
  • But you can choose to do the booking as a solo interpreter, (which the customer will to create a new booking request for.)
