What are the interpreter pay rates?

by The PAH! Team on
We’ve designed our rates with one goal in mind: to make interpreting sustainable—for you and the people booking you.

Your hourly rate depends on your NAATI certification level and whether the booking falls inside or outside of standard working hours.

Certified Provisional Interpreter (CPI – Level 2):

  • Regular: $80.52
  • After Hours: $85.40
  • Public Holiday: $94.50

Certified Interpreter (CI – Level 3):

  • Regular: $95.04
  • After Hours: $100.32
  • Public Holiday: $110.70

Certified Conference Interpreter (CCI – Level 4):

  • Regular: $110.03
  • After Hours: $116.10
  • Public Holiday: $121.50

Deaf Interpreters:

  • Regular: $80.52
  • After Hours: $85.40
  • Public Holiday: $94.50

👏 A few things we’re proud of:

  • We don’t charge customers extra for after-hours or public holiday bookings—but we still pay you accordingly. Win-win.
  • You’ll always be paid in line with the time you work, calculated in 15-minute increments beyond the minimum.

💵 What we charge:

  • We take a flat $5 booking fee per job, no matter how long the booking goes for.
  • You’re working under your own ABN, so you’ll be responsible for your own tax and super—but we’re always here to support you in navigating it all.
